What to Expect

From our entire church family, welcome to Mount Carmel. We are glad that you are thinking about coming to visit us! Here's what you can expect from our church community:

What will happen when I visit for the first time?

If you are visiting for the first time, relax and enjoy the experience. We will not ask you to stand up, or make a fuss. We will shake your hand and say hello, and there is even an information card you can fill out if you would like more information. We have newcomers every week. Many want to check out our church in a quiet way for a while, and that’s fine with us. Come enjoy and see if our church is right for you.

AS YOU ENTER

When you walk up to our doors on Sunday mornings, we want to make you feel like you are at home. Expect to be welcomed and given a bulletin that explains the day’s service and provides information on what’s happening at the Lord’s church! In the bulletin, you’ll find a Communication Card. You can fill it out and drop it in the offering plate, or you can bring it to our Connections Counter (located between the Sanctuary and the Fellowship Hall) and we will give you a coffee cup and more information about Mount Carmel. If you have children, we'll help you check them in to our age-specific Early Childhood or Elementary programming.

LIFE GROUPS  (9:30 a.m. on Sunday)

We offer life groups – you may know them as Sunday school or Bible school – beginning at 9:30 a.m. We have classes for all ages. If 9:30 on Sunday does not fit your lifestyle, check out these other opportunities for life groups.

WORSHIP SERVICES   (10:30 a.m. on Sunday)

Our worship services are designed for all people, no matter what stage of faith they are in, to be able to worship God and learn more about him. During every service, we sing God-centered worship songs, pray and listen to a message containing Biblical truths that are applicable to your life situation.

dsc00017.JPGWe also recognize the sacrifices of Jesus each week by observing Communion. If you are a believer of Christ, you are welcome to participate in Communion. We pass the elements and take them individually. Our offering plates are passed before Communion. While we don't expect visitors to participate in the offering, you can place your Connection Card in the plate. We hope, however, that you’ll visit our Connection Center and get that free coffee cup!

At the end of our worship service, we offer anyone an opportunity to give their life to Lord and be baptized, or to seek prayer. Our hope is that we have someone every Sunday – in fact, every day – who wants to accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior and be baptized.

And in case you are interested, our Sunday morning worship service typically lasts about 1 hour and 15 minutes!

ANY QUESTIONS?

Call our church office at 770.279.8437 or email us at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..

We look forward to getting to know you better, as we help each other Worship, Grow and Serve in our relationship with Jesus!

IF YOU HAVE MADE IT THIS FAR …  You may want to know the answer to these questions!

What is your dress code?

Don't worry about what to wear to Mount Carmel; we are a multicultural, multi generational church. You'll feel at home whether you are wearing your favorite jeans or something dressier. God doesn't care what you wear, and neither do we!

What programs are available for children and students?

Children are a top priority. We host separate programming for babies and preschoolers, elementary-age children, middle and, finally, high school students.

In each ministry, children learn together in engaging, age-appropriate ways that kids really love. Our staff and highly trained volunteers lead both large-group worship and small group conversations.

You can rest assured that your children are being cared for and taught by people who love kids and who have passed a rigorous application process that includes a background and spiritual formation check.

View our kids ministry info here.

Do you have any Mid-Week Activities?

Yes. We offer dinner and study groups on Wednesdays from August to November and January to May. Dinner is available between 5:30 and 6:30 p.m., and electives follow from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. for all ages, including children. Our choir also practices on Wednesday nights from 6:30 to 7:30.

What’s the mission of MOUNT CARMEL Christian Church? What impact will it have on me?

Our Mission is to help people Worship, Grow and Serve Jesus Christ. We want to lead people to a life-changing connection with Jesus Christ. When you get to know Jesus Christ in a real and personal way, He changes everything: your life, your family, your work, our community and our world.

If you have questions or if you’re ready to become a fully devoted follower of Jesus, come forward at the end of any service or call the church at 770-279-8437.

How can I meet others & get connected? How can I be discipled & grow?

We want to help you get to know Jesus and help you become the person He created you to be. No matter where you are in life, we’ll help you find the next steps in your journey.

We think some of the best opportunities to grow and allow Jesus to change our lives happen outside the sanctuary.

Start your journey at our Connections Counter, where we will answer any questions you have and give you free gift simply for stopping by.

Then plan to attend our New Beginnings class. This six-week class gives you a good overview of what Worship, Growing and Serving is all about at Mount Carmel. The class explores the church, your personal relationship with the Lord and how to turn your faith into action.

One of the best ways to become a fully-devoted follower of Christ is by joining a Life Group. These groups meet on Sunday mornings in church, in restaurants and in homes to study, pray and build friendships. Groups help you meet other people and develop relationships that will encourage your relationship with Jesus. There’s one just right for you.

We also encourage you to take advantage of the many classes and conferences we offer throughout the year. Check out our events page, sign up for our electronic newsletter, and watch for announcements in services and in your worship program. Connect with our online Facebook and Twitter communities, too.

You’ll also want to find the best place to use your unique gifts to serve in ministry here. We’ll help you discover your gifts and connect with a ministry. Get involved.

We partner with missionaries here in Atlanta, across the U.S. and around the world to share the love of Jesus with people who are oppressed, living in poverty, recovering from disasters, or who simply have never heard the Good News about our Savior. Learn more.
