Passage: Matthew 6:25-34       Series Unthinkable
Description: We live in a world that is becoming more and more isolated. Even in the midst of social media, where we count our "friends", people are experiencing loneliness and depression. Even as believers, we worry about the things we see in the world and we choose to shelter ourselves from the world, often leaving us unable or unwilling to help people who need Jesus. This Sunday we will ask the question, "Are we as Christians too sheltered?" What we will discover is that we are called to live in proximity to the world and practice purity, to seek His kingdom and His righteousness

Passage: Matthew 5:43-6:4       Series Unthinkable
Description: This Sunday we will tackle whether or not the church is too hypocritical. Of the young people polled, Kinnaman and Lyons discovered that the unchurched are not shocked by the Christian's perceived hypocrisy. It seems that our young people have become "so jaded by the holes in people's lifestyles that they no longer are shocked to find incongruence between words and actions." This Sunday we will look at what Jesus says about hypocrites in the Sermon on the Mount. What we will ultimately discover is that our "Yes" needs to be yes, and our "No" needs to be no.

Passage: Jeremiah 29:11 & Ecclesiastes 3:11
Description: Randy and Annie Snyder ministered at Mount Carmel from 1999-2004. Having officially retired from local ministry last June, Randy now devotes his time to "CrossHope Radio", a daily radio ministry on Sirius/XM Satellite radio broacdcast all over the US and Canada. For the last 35 years, Randy's messages have been heard in every city where he has ministered, including in Atlanta when he served here

Passage: Matthew 5:13-16       Series Unthinkable
Description: This Sunday we will look at yet another perception that the unchurched people have about the church. Interestingly, three-quarters of unchurched young people and half of young church-goers describe Christianity as "too involved in politics". Should we be involved in politics? Is it right or wrong? This Sunday we will unpack what Jesus had to say in Matthew 5, where He called us to be "Salt" and "Light." What we will discover is that we should not let anything deter us from being an agent of influence for the Kingdom of God. Our response should be the same as that of Jesus, who desired not just to make statements, but to make a difference in this dark and flavorless world.

Passage: Matthew 5:1-12       Series Unthinkable
Description: In their book, Unchristian, David Kinnaman and Gabe Lyons tackle the misconceptions and negative images that people can have toward Christianity. And while there will always be skeptics and critics of the faith, these negative perceptions can allow us to understand those that we need to reach and ask the question, "Are we acting like Jesus?" So in this sermon series we are going to look at six (6) negative perceptions and watch as Jesus tackles these questions in one of His most powerful sermons. This Sunday we will ask the question, "Are Christians too focused on converts?"

Passage: Matthew 5:3-10       Series Refresh
Description: This Sunday we will conclude our sermon series by looking at the Beatitudes in Matthew chapter five. It's in the opening words of Jesus's Sermon on the Mount, where He begins to show us how the Kingdom of God can impact our heart and set us up for refreshment and blessings even in the midst of struggle and pain. What we will discover this Sunday is, in order to be refreshed, we need to lean into the unnatural life to which Jesus is calling us.

Passage: Matthew 4:12-1:22
Description: This Sunday we will discover that spiritual refreshment happens when we allow the Lord to rebuild our lives around Him. In Matthew 4 Jesus calls the first disciples to abandon their way of living for His new life. In fact, Jesus said to them, as they were casting their nets into the lake, "Come, follow me" ... "and I will send you out to fish for people." Jesus was calling them to rebuild their lives around His Kingdom and to jettison their kingdom.

Passage: Matthew 4:1-11       Series Refresh
Description: This Sunday we will walk with Jesus as He remains obedient and committed to His heavenly Father despite being tempted by Satan. There is no doubt that if Jesus went through temptation, then we will also go through trials and temptations. What we will discover is that it is through incredible hardships, adversity, and even temptation that our faith can become stronger, revitalized, and renewed. This is why James says in James 1:2-4, "Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything." So join us this Sunday as we focus on renewing our faith.

Passage: John 3:3       Series Refresh
Description: Life can be so complicated at times, and generally we are the ones who seem to over-complicate our lives. What I love about Jesus is His simplicity. In John 3 Nicodemus seems to be trying to over-complicate the spiritual matters and Jesus says in John 3:3, "Very truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again." Don't you wish sometimes that we could go back to when we were a child and see Jesus in all His simplicity? This Sunday we will begin a sermon series that will hopefully encourage us to hit the "refresh" button in our spiritual walk with Jesus.

Passage: 1 Kings 19:19-21       Series Tough As Nails
Description: This Sunday we will close out our summer sermon series highlighting the importance of discipleship. In our text we will watch Elijah as he prepares and disciples Elisha to take over the ministry to Israel. We will unlock the importance and the formula to discipleship. What we will learn is that discipleship is giving our time to walk with others, doing life together, all the while learning together through scripture. To put it in mathematical terms Time+Life+God's Word=Discipleship. Join us this Sunday as we unpack the importance of discipleship.
