Passage: Genesis 22       Series That Will Leave A Mark
Description: My guess is that the hardest assignment that Abraham ever had to do was to follow through on what the Lord asked him to do in Genesis chapter 22. In that passage, the Lord asks Abraham to sacrifice his one and only son, Issac, and in obedience Abraham embarks on a three-day trek to do what the Lord asked of him. This kind of obedience is remarkable; the level of sacrifice is remarkable. And this Sunday we will discover that if we are going to leave our mark on the lives of others, it will take "remarkable" sacrifice on our part. What we will learn is that our sacrifice is first and foremost to the Lord and then to others - and the by-product will be a legacy that will far outlast our lives.

Passage: Genesis 18       Series That Will Leave A Mark
Description: This Sunday we will learn that in order to leave a legacy that will far outlast our lives, we need to have compassion for others. In Genesis 18, God shares with Abraham the sinfulness that is taking place in the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah. Apparently things had gotten so bad that the Lord was forced into grievous action. As Abraham hears the news, he begins to plead for the lives of the people in these two cities. In Genesis 18:24-25 Abraham says to the Lord, "What if there are fifty righteous people in the city? Will you really sweep it away and not spare the place for the sake of the fifty righteous people in it? Far be it from you to do such a thing-to kill the righteous with the wicked, treating the righteous and the wicked alike. Far be it from you! Will not the Judge of all the earth do right?" This Sunday we will discuss the need to leave behind a legacy of compassion.

Passage: Genesis 13-15       Series That Will Leave A Mark
Description: Last Sunday we kicked off the new year discussing how we could leave a mark, a legacy, on the lives of others. This Sunday we will take a closer look at Abraham's life and see that one of the qualities that set him apart from everyone else was his reliance on the Lord. In our story this week, Abraham is being blessed by the Lord, and this will lead to difficulties between him and his nephew, Lot. What we will see is Abraham's total trust in God, and how it allowed him to give his nephew, Lot, the better land. Abraham tells Lot in Genesis 13:8-9, "Let's not have any quarreling between you and me, or between your herders and mine, for we are close relatives. Is not the whole land before you? Let's part company. If you go to the left, I'll go to the right; if you go to the right, I'll go to the left." Lot chose the better, more fertile land, but Abraham didn't have to worry about how he would see him through; he placed complete reliance on God. This Sunday we will discover that in order to truly leave a legacy that will outlast our life, we will need to place our total trust in the Lord. -

Passage: Genesis 12       Series That Will Leave A Mark
Description: We are starting a brand new sermon series for this new year centered on leaving a legacy for the next generation. This series will beg the question, "What sort of Legacy will we leave behind for your children or grandchildren?" In this study we will dissect the life of Abraham and see how he was able to impact those around him and leave his mark in this world. This Sunday we will discover that our legacy begins with the Fear of the Lord, and how simple obedience can change the course of one's life, one's family, and even the surrounding community. Join us this Sunday as we set out to leave a mark in this world.
