Date: Sunday, December 25, 2016       Teacher: Art Stansberry     Duration: 14 mins 5 secs
Passage: Luke 2:10-11       Series God With Us
Description: Have you ever paid attention to the announcements of the angel in the Christmas story? Angels simply repeat the message that God has for His people. This Sunday we will key-in on the message that the angel proclaimed to Joseph and to the Shepherds. In Matthew 1:21 the angel says, "She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins." The announcement is one of salvation, that Jesus has come to save you and me. So join us this Sunday as we unpack this message and rejoice, for unto us a Savior has been born, and He is Christ the Lord!

Passage: Luke 2:8-15       Series God With Us
Description: I think that it is fascinating that out of all the people on the planet in those days, that shepherds were counted as the ones who were worthy of getting a ringside seat to an angelic celebration of Jesus's birth. You see in those days, among all the occupations, shepherding was considered one of the lowest. Shepherds were looked at as untrustworthy and their job made them ceremonially unclean. But this is true to form for Jesus; Jesus made a beeline for those that were unworthy, the outcasts, or those who were on the low rung of the social ladder. So it makes sense that the angels would be sent to the Shepherds first, on that Silent Night . . . that Holy Night. This Sunday we will unpack what it means to be holy and how, even though none of us are worthy, by the grace of God anyone of us can choose to be holy.

Passage: Luke 2:4-7       Series God With Us
Description: the Christmas story teaches us that when God shows up, love shows up! In a small, remote village called Bethlehem Mary gave birth to a boy that would be the hope for the world. Now, as we celebrate his birth, we're reminded that God is love and, therefore, if we are to be "Jesus people", our lives should be marked by this same love and kindness. This Sunday, let's take a look at the love and kindness of God in Jesus and how, through the church, this love and kindness might change the world!

Passage: Luke 2:1-3       Series God With Us
Description: This Sunday we will launch a new sermon series centered around four distinct elements that follow the presence of God. These four characteristics were present on that first Christmas night in the little town of Bethlehem. This Sunday we will highlight the newness that God brought into the world. Luke starts off the Christmas story in Luke 2:1 by saying, "In those days . . . ." The Lord brought about something new, something different that was not present "in those days". What we will unpack this Sunday is that the presence of the Lord brings a freshness in our lives and restores our souls. So join us this Sunday as we discover the newness of Christmas.
