Heroes and Villains

Jan 2017 - Feb 2017
Sermons in this series
Date: Sunday, February 05, 2017       Teacher: Jay Wright     Duration: 23 mins 9 secs
Passage: John 13:21-30       Series Heroes and Villains
Description: This Sunday we will wrap up our series on Heroes and Villains. This week we will look at one of the saddest stories in all of scripture - the story of Judas. Judas was in Jesus's inner-circle. He had a ringside seat to the miracles, the teachings, and the personal life of Jesus. However, at the end of the day, he threw all of that away and betrayed Jesus for a handful of coins. This Sunday we will unpack his life and learn from his mistakes.
Date: Sunday, January 29, 2017       Teacher: Art Stansberry     Duration: 29 mins 15 secs
Passage: John 1:14       Series Heroes and Villains
Description: This Sunday we will look at the real hero in all of scripture -Jesus. The coming of Jesus was announced in Genesis 3:15. It was pronounced to Abraham when the Lord said that, "all peoples would be blessed through him." The prophets foretold of this long awaited hero, and yet when He arrived, the people did not recognize Him for the hero that He was and is. This Sunday we will look at Jesus and the fact that He came, not with an iron fist, but "full of grace and truth."
Date: Sunday, January 15, 2017       Teacher: Art Stansberry     Duration: 33 mins 58 secs
Passage: 2 Samuel 12:1-13       Series Heroes and Villains
Description: This Sunday we will look at King David's story of daring and courage. David's life is a roller coaster ride of ups and downs, and yet from his rise to stardom to his escape from King Saul, David remained steadfast in following God with all of his heart. His story is a picturesque narrative of what a true hero looks like . . . that is until he gets comfortable and sins against the Lord. What we will discover is that being a hero for the Lord is not about our perfection (which is impossible), but it is about what we do with our imperfection and how we seek repentance.

Passage: Acts 9:1-31       Series Heroes and Villains
Description: We will begin a new sermon series this Sunday looking at some of the Heroes and some of the more "villainous" people of the Bible.  What we will discover over the course of this series is what makes one a hero or a villain are the choices that we make.  If we choose to seek after God and put Him first, then we find ourselves making the choices of a hero.  And conversely, if we choose to put ourselves first, then we can come dangerously close to crossing that line into villainy.  This Sunday we will unpack the life of Paul and study the choices he made to go from villain to hero.
