Passage: 2 Peter 1:5       Series Full Life
Description: This Sunday we will wrap up our sermon series from 2 Peter 1:5-8. The Apostle Peter saves the best quality for the end of his list when he mentions that we need to add to our faith, love. Jesus said in John 13:34, "A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another." The Apostle John writes in 1 John 3:16, " This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers and sisters." We see in scripture that God is love and our job as believers in Christ is to display that love, so that others can know God. As Paul says in 1 Corinthians 13:2, "If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing." Love is an essential quality for every follower of Christ. This Sunday we will key-in on the importance of love and how it can literally change the world.

Passage: 2 Peter 1:5       Series Full Life
Description: The Apostle Peter writes, "For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith . . . brotherly kindness." The literal Greek word that he uses in this passage for brotherly kindness is Philadelphia, from which we know is the city of brotherly love. This Sunday we will learn how we can develop this extremely important quality by studying the Apostle Peter's earlier letter. In 1 Peter 3:8 he writes, "Finally, all of you, be like-minded, be sympathetic, love one another, be compassionate and humble." What we will discover is that in order to develop brotherly kindness, we need to focus on unity, sympathy, love, compassion, and humility. Join us this Sunday as we study what it means to add to our faith brotherly kindness and how this can impact not only our faith, but the potential faith of others.

Passage: 2 Peter 1:5       Series Full Life
Description: The Apostle Peter tells us that we need to add to our faith, "Perseverance." Perseverance is the ability to continue in the faith even in the face of an evil world. This Sunday we will discover that perseverance is not gained easily, but that through trials and sufferings we can develop this important virtue. The Apostle Paul said in Romans 5:3, "Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance." In James 1:4 we are told, "Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything." What we will learn this Sunday is that perseverance is not easy, but it will help us cultivate a strong and durable faith.

Passage: 2 Peter 2:5       Series Full Life
Description: As we continue on in our series, "Full Life," the Apostle Peter says that we need to add to our faith the quality of self-control. Proverbs 25:28 says, "Like a city whose walls are broken through is a person who lacks self-control." We live in a society that is constantly giving us the message to do what we want, to live however we want to live, or as Nike so aptly puts it, to "just do it." But this is not how the Lord would have us to live. There is a standard, a model, that we are to follow and that standard is Christ. The Apostle Paul said in 1 Corinthians 11:1, "Follow my example, as I follow the example of Christ." The only way that we can truly follow Christ is add to our faith, self-control. This Sunday we will learn that self-control takes discipline, it takes accountability, and it requires that we follow closely after Christ.

Passage: 2 Peter 1:5       Series Full Life
Description: This week we will continue to look at the seven virtues found in 2 Peter 1:5-8. This week we will discuss the importance of knowledge and how important it is to our faith. What we will learn this week is that Knowledge comes from the Lord, in fact Proverbs 2:6 tells us, "For the Lord gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding." This knowledge will help us know the heart and mind of God, it will help us recognize the lies of the enemy, and will help our faith to grow strong. So join us this Sunday as we unpack what it means to live a full life.

Passage: 2 Peter 1:5       Series Full Life
Description: This week we will begin a new sermon series looking at the seven virtues that Peter writes about in his second letter. He writes, "For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; 6 and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; 7 and to godliness, mutual affection; and to mutual affection, love. 8 For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ." This Sunday we will learn about adding to our faith, goodness; and how only the Lord can help us to be good.
