Passage: Luke 10:25-37       Series Call Me Crazy
Description: This Sunday we will unpack the kind of love that we are to have for our neighbors. In Luke 10, Jesus is asked to clarify whom we should love, and He replies with a crazy parable that would have totally shocked His listeners. Jesus first of all points out that love is an action word. He says to the scribe in this passage, "go and DO likewise." So for the disciples of Jesus, love is not just a feeling, but it is an action that is purposefully taken. Also, Jesus calls His disciples to love without discrimination. We don't have the luxury of picking and choosing whom we will love, but we simply love just as Christ has loved us. To the world this kind of love sounds crazy, but for the disciples of Jesus, these are our marching orders.

Passage: Luke 21:1-4       Series Call Me Crazy
Description: This Sunday we will begin a new sermon series centered around the cost of being a disciple of Jesus. In Matthew 10:39, Jesus says, "Whoever finds their life will lose it, and whoever loses their life for my sake will find it." The cost of following Jesus is our way of life. In other words, He becomes more important than everything we hold dear, which to many sounds absolutely crazy. Yet, Jesus says that when we put Him first and pay the high price of discipleship, we will actually find a better way to live. This Sunday we will look at the crazy teaching of Jesus about how we should approach money, finances, and giving. So make plans to join us this Sunday as we launch our new sermon series, "Call Me Crazy."

Passage: Acts 4:13-31
Description: This Sunday, we will unpack the story of Peter and John in Acts 3 and 4. We will especially key in on the boldness that the Spirit had given to these two Apostles. We are told in Acts 4:13 that "When they [religious leaders] saw the courage of Peter and John and realized that they were unschooled, ordinary men, they were astonished and took note that these men had been with Jesus." I think at the end of the day that's what I want said about my family and me - that people would know we had been with Jesus. This Sunday we will learn how God can make us, take us, and shake us into bold leaders.

Passage: Matthew 7:1-5       Series Unthinkable
Description: This Sunday we will be asking the question, "Is the Church a loving community or is it too judgmental?" Jesus said in the Sermon on the Mount, "Do not judge, or you too will be judged. For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you." This Sunday we will look at what our response should be to a sinful world and how we can be full of grace and truth.

Passage: Matthew 6:25-34       Series Unthinkable
Description: We live in a world that is becoming more and more isolated. Even in the midst of social media, where we count our "friends", people are experiencing loneliness and depression. Even as believers, we worry about the things we see in the world and we choose to shelter ourselves from the world, often leaving us unable or unwilling to help people who need Jesus. This Sunday we will ask the question, "Are we as Christians too sheltered?" What we will discover is that we are called to live in proximity to the world and practice purity, to seek His kingdom and His righteousness

Passage: Matthew 5:43-6:4       Series Unthinkable
Description: This Sunday we will tackle whether or not the church is too hypocritical. Of the young people polled, Kinnaman and Lyons discovered that the unchurched are not shocked by the Christian's perceived hypocrisy. It seems that our young people have become "so jaded by the holes in people's lifestyles that they no longer are shocked to find incongruence between words and actions." This Sunday we will look at what Jesus says about hypocrites in the Sermon on the Mount. What we will ultimately discover is that our "Yes" needs to be yes, and our "No" needs to be no.

Passage: Matthew 5:13-16       Series Unthinkable
Description: This Sunday we will look at yet another perception that the unchurched people have about the church. Interestingly, three-quarters of unchurched young people and half of young church-goers describe Christianity as "too involved in politics". Should we be involved in politics? Is it right or wrong? This Sunday we will unpack what Jesus had to say in Matthew 5, where He called us to be "Salt" and "Light." What we will discover is that we should not let anything deter us from being an agent of influence for the Kingdom of God. Our response should be the same as that of Jesus, who desired not just to make statements, but to make a difference in this dark and flavorless world.

Passage: Matthew 5:1-12       Series Unthinkable
Description: In their book, Unchristian, David Kinnaman and Gabe Lyons tackle the misconceptions and negative images that people can have toward Christianity. And while there will always be skeptics and critics of the faith, these negative perceptions can allow us to understand those that we need to reach and ask the question, "Are we acting like Jesus?" So in this sermon series we are going to look at six (6) negative perceptions and watch as Jesus tackles these questions in one of His most powerful sermons. This Sunday we will ask the question, "Are Christians too focused on converts?"

Passage: Matthew 5:3-10       Series Refresh
Description: This Sunday we will conclude our sermon series by looking at the Beatitudes in Matthew chapter five. It's in the opening words of Jesus's Sermon on the Mount, where He begins to show us how the Kingdom of God can impact our heart and set us up for refreshment and blessings even in the midst of struggle and pain. What we will discover this Sunday is, in order to be refreshed, we need to lean into the unnatural life to which Jesus is calling us.

Passage: Matthew 4:12-1:22
Description: This Sunday we will discover that spiritual refreshment happens when we allow the Lord to rebuild our lives around Him. In Matthew 4 Jesus calls the first disciples to abandon their way of living for His new life. In fact, Jesus said to them, as they were casting their nets into the lake, "Come, follow me" ... "and I will send you out to fish for people." Jesus was calling them to rebuild their lives around His Kingdom and to jettison their kingdom.
