Passage: Luke 14:25       Series The Cost of Discipleship
Description: In Luke 14, Jesus turns to the crowd and invites them to count the cost of being His disciple. Jesus draws a parallel between a person who builds a tower to one who would follow Him. He says in verse 28, " For which of you, intending to build a tower, does not sit down first and count the cost. This Sunday as we close out this sermon series we will look at the payout of following Jesus. What we will discover is that when we follow Jesus, we will come to know Him on a much deeper level, we will reign with Him in His kingdom, and we will live with Him in eternity.

Passage: Matthew 10:37       Series The Cost of Discipleship
Description: This Sunday we will continue to count the cost of discipleship. Jesus said in Matthew 10:39, "Whoever finds their life will lose it, and whoever loses their life for my sake will find it." As we follow Jesus in this adventure to make disciples, we will discover that we must be willing to give up everything that we cherish in order to make disciples and focus on the people that God cherishes. But the incredible thing is that when we give up the things we are holding onto (the things that come between the Lord and us) that we actually gain more than we originally had in the first place. So when it's all said and done, what we will unpack this Sunday is that making disciples is well worth the cost.

Passage: Acts 1:8       Series The Cost of Discipleship
Description: This Sunday we will begin a brand new sermon series entitled, "The Cost of Discipleship." If you are a follower of Christ, then you are called and commissioned by Jesus to "Go and Make Disciples", according to Matthew 28. But there is a cost to discipleship, and over the next three weeks we will consider the cost of reaching people for Christ. This Sunday we will focus on the invitation that Jesus extends to us in being disciple-makers. In Acts 1:8 Jesus tells His followers, just before He ascends into heaven - "But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth." We have been invited to be His witnesses, His ambassadors in Jerusalem. What we will discover is that our "Jerusalem" is right here in our local community and that we have been called to reach them with the gospel of Jesus Christ. Join us this Sunday as we walk alongside Jesus, learn from Him, and consider the cost of reaching our Jerusalem.

Passage: 2 Peter 1:5       Series Full Life
Description: This Sunday we will wrap up our sermon series from 2 Peter 1:5-8. The Apostle Peter saves the best quality for the end of his list when he mentions that we need to add to our faith, love. Jesus said in John 13:34, "A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another." The Apostle John writes in 1 John 3:16, " This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers and sisters." We see in scripture that God is love and our job as believers in Christ is to display that love, so that others can know God. As Paul says in 1 Corinthians 13:2, "If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing." Love is an essential quality for every follower of Christ. This Sunday we will key-in on the importance of love and how it can literally change the world.

Passage: 2 Peter 1:5       Series Full Life
Description: The Apostle Peter writes, "For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith . . . brotherly kindness." The literal Greek word that he uses in this passage for brotherly kindness is Philadelphia, from which we know is the city of brotherly love. This Sunday we will learn how we can develop this extremely important quality by studying the Apostle Peter's earlier letter. In 1 Peter 3:8 he writes, "Finally, all of you, be like-minded, be sympathetic, love one another, be compassionate and humble." What we will discover is that in order to develop brotherly kindness, we need to focus on unity, sympathy, love, compassion, and humility. Join us this Sunday as we study what it means to add to our faith brotherly kindness and how this can impact not only our faith, but the potential faith of others.

Passage: 2 Peter 2:5       Series Full Life
Description: As we continue on in our series, "Full Life," the Apostle Peter says that we need to add to our faith the quality of self-control. Proverbs 25:28 says, "Like a city whose walls are broken through is a person who lacks self-control." We live in a society that is constantly giving us the message to do what we want, to live however we want to live, or as Nike so aptly puts it, to "just do it." But this is not how the Lord would have us to live. There is a standard, a model, that we are to follow and that standard is Christ. The Apostle Paul said in 1 Corinthians 11:1, "Follow my example, as I follow the example of Christ." The only way that we can truly follow Christ is add to our faith, self-control. This Sunday we will learn that self-control takes discipline, it takes accountability, and it requires that we follow closely after Christ.

Passage: 2 Peter 1:5       Series Full Life
Description: This week we will continue to look at the seven virtues found in 2 Peter 1:5-8. This week we will discuss the importance of knowledge and how important it is to our faith. Passage: 2 Peter 1:5       Series Full Life
Description: This week we will begin a new sermon series looking at the seven virtues that Peter writes about in his second letter. He writes, "For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; 6 and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; 7 and to godliness, mutual affection; and to mutual affection, love. 8 For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ." This Sunday we will learn about adding to our faith, goodness; and how only the Lord can help us to be good.

Passage: Matthew 2       Series First Christmas
Description: In Matthew 2 we are told of the Magi, wise men from the east, that followed a curious star in search of the Messiah. These "Magi" are a mystery to us, but their part in the Christmas story teach us a valuable lesson. In fact in Proverbs 9:10 we are told, "The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding." This Sunday we will spotlight the importance of wisdom in seeking the Lord, in honoring the Lord with our gifts, and the wisdom in bowing down to the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords. Join us this Sunday as we unpack what it truly means to be wise.
