THAT WILL LEAVE A MARK: Reliance on the Lord

Genesis 13-15 by Art Stansberry
Series:That Will Leave A Mark

Last Sunday we kicked off the new year discussing how we could leave a mark, a legacy, on the lives of others. This Sunday we will take a closer look at Abraham's life and see that one of the qualities that set him apart from everyone else was his reliance on the Lord. In our story this week, Abraham is being blessed by the Lord, and this will lead to difficulties between him and his nephew, Lot. What we will see is Abraham's total trust in God, and how it allowed him to give his nephew, Lot, the better land. Abraham tells Lot in Genesis 13:8-9, "Let's not have any quarreling between you and me, or between your herders and mine, for we are close relatives. Is not the whole land before you? Let's part company. If you go to the left, I'll go to the right; if you go to the right, I'll go to the left." Lot chose the better, more fertile land, but Abraham didn't have to worry about how he would see him through; he placed complete reliance on God. This Sunday we will discover that in order to truly leave a legacy that will outlast our life, we will need to place our total trust in the Lord. -
