The Holiness of Christmas

Luke 2:8-15 by Art Stansberry
Series:God With Us

I think that it is fascinating that out of all the people on the planet in those days, that shepherds were counted as the ones who were worthy of getting a ringside seat to an angelic celebration of Jesus's birth. You see in those days, among all the occupations, shepherding was considered one of the lowest. Shepherds were looked at as untrustworthy and their job made them ceremonially unclean. But this is true to form for Jesus; Jesus made a beeline for those that were unworthy, the outcasts, or those who were on the low rung of the social ladder. So it makes sense that the angels would be sent to the Shepherds first, on that Silent Night . . . that Holy Night. This Sunday we will unpack what it means to be holy and how, even though none of us are worthy, by the grace of God anyone of us can choose to be holy.
