Bruce is one of the rotation teachers for The Gathering Class and is a faithful prayer warrior on Tuesday evenings. He has a passion for a mission in the Philippines and travels there annually to teach and serve. We are privileged to hear from this very learned and dedicated man of God.

Passage: Proverbs 37:8-9
Description: This Sunday we welcome Alec Ward as our special speaker. Alec and his wife Patti are well-known by most Mount Carmel members - and our "newer" members will enjoy getting to know him! Alec and Patti, having served at Mount Carmel Christian Church for many years, still remain involved in our ministry, especially our support of Kerala Christian Mission in India.

Passage: 1 Kings 18:36-46
Description: This Sunday we will unpack the "rest of the story" of Elijah on Mount Carmel. We will focus our attention on the power of prayer in Elijah's life. We are told in James 5:16-18, "The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective. Elijah was a human being, even as we are. He prayed earnestly that it would not rain, and it did not rain on the land for three and a half years. Again he prayed, and the heavens gave rain, and the earth produced its crops." Sometimes in this life prayer is all we've got. This Sunday we will learn the importance of spending time with the Lord.

Passage: 1 Kings 18       Series Tough As Nails
Description: This Sunday we will unpack one of the most famous passages of scripture, as Elijah faces what seems like overwhelming odds. Throughout scripture we see times where the Lord puts His people in overwhelming circumstances. God put David in the path of a giant. He put Daniel in a pit with hungry lions. And He placed Peter in the middle of a dingy prison. This Sunday we will explore how we can face the challenges and trials that the Lord has put before us, and what we will discover is that He is with us every step of the way.

Passage: 1 Kings 17       Series Tough As Nails
Description: This Sunday we will launch a new sermon series discussing how we should approach an increasingly hostile world. We will unpack the life of the Prophet Elijah to see how we spiritually can become as tough as nails in this world that is quickly drifting away from God. What we will discover this week is that we need to understand God's righteousness and live according to His word.
Date: Sunday, June 11, 2017       Teacher: Art Stansberry     Duration: 24 mins 24 secs
Passage: Psalms 139:13-16
Description: This Sunday we will revisit the Bible points that our children are learning this week during VBS. We will unpack what it means to be forged and fashioned by God. In Psalm 139:14 David writes, "I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made." Just as David was forged for a purpose, this Sunday we will learn that each of us was created and shaped by God for His glory and for His purpose.

Passage: John 13:12-17       Series COMMUNITY
Description: This Sunday we will finish our sermon series centered on unity. We will unpack the importance that sacrifice plays in attaining and maintaining unity in the church. We will focus on John 13, where Jesus washes the feet of his disciples. It is in this lowliest act of service that Jesus teaches us, not just about service, but the importance of sacrifice.
Date: Sunday, May 28, 2017       Teacher: Art Stansberry     Duration: 32 mins 37 secs
Passage: Ephesians 4:1-6       Series COMMUNITY
Description: This past Sunday we unpacked the importance that love plays in our unity to one another. This week we will look at Ephesians 4, where Paul urges us to put our love into action. In Ephesians 4:2-3 Paul writes, "Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace." In order to have unity, we must put forth the effort to serve one another, and so this Sunday we will focus on the power that the Lord has given us to serve the body of Christ and how this fosters unity.

Passage: John 13:34-35       Series COMMUNITY
Description: This Sunday we will unpack further this idea of unity. What we will discover is that love is at the core of a unified church. Jesus said in John 13:34-35. "A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another." At first, this idea of love being key to unity makes complete sense; and yet, we find it difficult at times to implement. So join us this Sunday as we examine how we can truly love one another.

Passage: Acts 2:42-47       Series COMMUNITY
Description: In John 17 Jesus is in the garden praying for the unity of all believers, which is interesting, considering that his disciples had been arguing about who was the greatest not too long before. And so in verses 20-21, Jesus prays for his disciples and then prays for us by saying, "My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me." This Sunday we will begin a journey to discover what Jesus meant by unity, how the early church was able to capture it, and how we can regain unity within the church today.
