Passage: Ecclesiastes 3:16-4:3       Series Empty
Description: Life is ruthless and brutal. Life is brutal via "natural selection" - the survival of the fittest. Life is brutal in certain parts of the world where evil tyrants and dictators abound. Life is brutal in the corporate world where dog eats dog just to get ahead of everyone else. Life is brutal even in the family. How meaningless life is without God. Without God there is no love; there is no mercy; and there is no grace. There is only...Hell. This Sunday we will talk about how God endured the worst of brutality and brought love to an empty world; and how we need to carry that same type of love into this ruthless world in which we live.

Passage: Ecclesiastes 3:1-15       Series Empty
Description: Without God, time on this earth seems pointless. It seems that as we get older, time moves so much faster toward the end of life. Someone once said, "I was in such a hurry to grow up and graduate high school, then I was in a hurry to get out of college and start a family, then I was in a hurry to get through work so that I could retire, and when I look back on my life, I realize that I was in such a hurry that I forgot to live." In Job 14:5 we read, "You have decided the length of our lives. You know how many months we will live, and we are not given a minute longer." We will learn this Sunday that our time on this earth has meaning and what we do with the time we are given can extend into a timeless eternity.

Passage: Ecclesiastes 1:14       Series Empty
Description: This Sunday we will begin a new sermon series centered around what life without God looks like. In Ecclesiastes 1:14, Solomon writes, "I have seen all the things that are done under the sun; all of them are meaningless, a chasing after the wind." Life is empty without God. And yet so many people are living their lives without any sort of reference to God. Solomon researched the emptiness of life and came to several conclusions in the book of Ecclesiastes. We will track through this book and learn from Solomon the secret to living life to its fullest

Passage: Hebrews 4:12       Series LOVE GOD
Description: There is something special about God's Word; it is unique and intriguing. Through His Word we can begin to know the heart of God. And yet, as we are trying to peer into God's heart, an amazing thing begins to happen - we also get a reflection of what is in our hearts as well. It's kind of scary. In Hebrews 4:12 we are told, "For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart."God's Word is alive, active, and it is fascinating. This Sunday we will learn that desiring to gather around God's Word shows our love for Him, because when we do, we learn a little about God and a lot about ourselves and how we can love Him more.

Passage: John 15       Series LOVE GOD
Description: This Sunday we will unpack the idea that if we really love God, then we will make prayer a priority. Theologian, Ben Patterson writes, "Prayer is not mainly about communication with God, but communion with God." Our love for God is all about relationship; building, fostering, and staying connected to the Giver of Life. Jesus said in John 15:5, "I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing." This Sunday we will discover that prayer is the way we "remain" in Him.

Passage: Matthew 22:37       Series LOVE GOD
Description: In Matthew 22:37, Jesus says that the greatest action that we can take, in this life, is to "love the Lord our God." It was Jesus who scolded the Ephesian church because they had "forsaken their first love." Our number one priority in this life is to love God with our whole self, but how do we do this? What does real love for God look like? In this new sermon series, we will explore our love for God and determine the actions that best express the love in our hearts.

Passage: John 13:21-30       Series Heroes and Villains
Description: This Sunday we will wrap up our series on Heroes and Villains. This week we will look at one of the saddest stories in all of scripture - the story of Judas. Judas was in Jesus's inner-circle. He had a ringside seat to the miracles, the teachings, and the personal life of Jesus. However, at the end of the day, he threw all of that away and betrayed Jesus for a handful of coins. This Sunday we will unpack his life and learn from his mistakes.

Passage: John 1:14       Series Heroes and Villains
Description: This Sunday we will look at the real hero in all of scripture -Jesus. The coming of Jesus was announced in Genesis 3:15. It was pronounced to Abraham when the Lord said that, "all peoples would be blessed through him." The prophets foretold of this long awaited hero, and yet when He arrived, the people did not recognize Him for the hero that He was and is. This Sunday we will look at Jesus and the fact that He came, not with an iron fist, but "full of grace and truth."

Passage: 1 Samuel 13
Description: This Sunday we will look at a popular figure in the Scriptures that started out as a hero, but quickly became an villain in God's big story. King Saul made some really bad choices that led to him moving further and further away from the Lord. In fact, Saul found himself so far away from the Lord that he was no longer filled with the Holy Spirit, but was plagued by an evil spirit. When I think of Saul's life, I think about Jesus's words in Matthew 7:13, "Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it." This Sunday we will study Saul's life and see how we can keep from making the same mistakes.
